Sector Opportunity Identification

Developing business by identifying new sector opportunities for your products or services is the first step in opening doors and building sales with new customers.

Using segmentation and positioning models we will review the markets in which you are interested and look at potential alternative markets. The first step is to identify potential markets, the competitors within it and where your own position lies. Having completed this, a detailed profile will be drawn up looking at factors such as pricing, the customer offer, current and potential barriers to success, forecast changes that will impact on these markets. The financial size of the opportunities will then be reviewed and a prioritised list of these identified, taking into account the associated risks.

It is not always obvious who all of your competitors are and the most applicable approach to defining these will be taken after full discussion in order that all analysis is relevant to your business.

As a result of this process you will have positioning maps, which show competitors in the identified markets. These will then be further segmented and mapped against your own capabilities to identify where there are opportunities for future growth, for example:
